The Deru DSL Surfer package is an economical choice for broadband residential access. This package is
excellent for the user who will mostly be surfing the web, checking email and downloading files. If you need
static IP addresses, or would like to run services such as a mail or web server, you should subscribe to
the Deru DSL Power User package.

The Deru DSL Surfer account includes the following:

• Access time is unlimited at speeds up to 12 times faster than a typical dialup modem.
•100 MB disk storage (can be used for email, personal websites, file storage, etc.)
• 20 email accounts.
• Usenet News access to over 30,000 newsgroups (service provided by PureGig Internet.)
• Upstream Internet bandwidth - redundant 100 Mb/s connections to PureGig Internet.
• PureGig Internet has multiple OC-12/Gigabit (622/1000 Mb/s) feeds to the major Tier-1 backbones.
• Courteous and friendly phone support (M-F 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Sat.-Sun 12:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m.)
• Web-based email.

There are two parts to the Deru DSL Surfer Package. First, there is the DSL service which is provided by
Qwest. Second, there is the ISP service provided by Deru Internet. Qwest will bill you each month for the
DSL service and Deru Internet will bill you separately for the ISP service. Deru Internet will place the order
with Qwest for you when you call . We recommend this method of ordering service, so that we can manage the installation process. Alternatively, you can order the service through Qwest by calling
1-877-634-2327, or by ordering online at Qwest's website. Please make sure to designate "Deru Communications" as your ISP of choice, otherwise you may not get the quality Internet service you deserve. If you currently have DSL service through Qwest, and are changing your ISP to Deru Internet, you will need to call this number 1-800-218-4443. Choose option 1. Be sure to call or email us, so that we know that you are switching.

You will need to buy a DSL router from Qwest. If you use Windows there are three choices: the Cisco 678
external router, the Intel 2200 internal PCI card, or the Intel 3200 external USB modem. If you use Linux or Macintosh you will need to order the Cisco 678. Also, if you use a laptop you will need to order the Cisco 678 or the Intel 3200 USB modem. Current pricing for the Cisco 678 is $295.00; the Intel 2200 is $145.00; and the Intel 3200 USB is $150.00. Most users will be able to self install (with phone support, if needed) the DSL modem and be able to get online without having a technician visit their house. But, if you encounter problems or would just like the extra help, Qwest can have a technician install your DSL for $149.95. We recommend that you attempt to install the DSL yourself, first.
